On February 22, 2023, the University College of Nursing (UC-CON) convened a significant meeting led by Dean Judith Odanee G. Magwilang. The primary focus of the conference was to discuss vital updates regarding curriculum and instruction, address ongoing issues and concerns, and evaluate the current state of e-learning.
The meeting commenced with Dean Magwilang and Program Chair and Quality Assurance Officer Layao providing insights into curriculum and instruction updates, emphasizing the importance of flattening issues and concerns that have affected the academic environment. They engaged in discussions on how to enhance the learning experience through effective e-learning strategies, which have become an integral part of higher education, especially in the nursing field.
Gilbert Bernardino, the Level 1 Coordinator and Research Coordinator, took the floor to share updates on research initiatives within the college. He highlighted new projects that aim to involve both faculty and students in research activities, fostering a collaborative environment. Bernardino also discussed the utilization and navigation of Labster, a virtual laboratory platform that supports Level 1 courses and requirements, enhancing the overall learning experience for students.
Following this, Level 2 Coordinator Nasper Anod provided an overview of clinical and community schedules, including rotations, policies, guidelines, and procedures. He addressed current issues and concerns related to student placements and shared updates on Related Learning Experiences, ensuring that all students are well-informed regarding expectations and requirements.
The focus then shifted to Level 3, where Coordinator Josephine Minger discussed important updates on clinical and community schedules, rotations, and the associated policies and guidelines. She emphasized the submission of grades and case presentations as critical components of student assessment and highlighted the importance of having a structured skills enhancement schedule to ensure students’ clinical competencies.
Lastly, the Level 4 updates covered essential areas such as clinical and community schedules, rotations, and the relevant policies and guidelines. The discussion included concerns related to Related Learning Experiences, enhancements to the curriculum, the Mockboard schedule, and the Intensive Nursing Practice Course. Additionally, requirements set forth by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) were reviewed to ensure that students are adequately prepared for their future licensing examinations.
