April 10-12, 2023 | Cabinet Hill – Teacher’s Camp Barangay Hall – Level 2 students from the University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing, under the supervision of Clinical Instructor Humbeline Sokkong, conducted a series of health teaching sessions for community members, specifically Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) recipients and young children in the area.
The event, held over three days, provided essential health education aimed at promoting wellness and disease prevention. In one session, the students discussed Tuberculosis (TB) awareness and prevention strategies with 4Ps beneficiaries, addressing the causes, symptoms, and prevention of TB to empower residents with knowledge on managing and preventing the disease.
In addition to the TB awareness session, the nursing students led an Oral Health Awareness session tailored for kindergarten students from the Cabinet Hill – Teacher’s Camp Child Development Center. During this session, they highlighted the importance of dental hygiene through interactive demonstrations on proper brushing and flossing techniques. To further support their learning, each child received an oral hygiene kit, encouraging them to practice good dental habits at home.
