On August 18, 2023, Level 4 nursing students from the University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing (UC-CON) participated in a community health initiative in Pongayan, Kapangan, Benguet. Attending an assembly of senior citizens, the students conducted essential screenings for hypertension and diabetes, two of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the area.

The health screening included blood pressure monitoring and capillary blood glucose assessments, enabling early identification and management of these chronic conditions among residents. Alongside the screenings, UC-CON students provided health education sessions focused on disease prevention and lifestyle modifications to promote a healthier community. These sessions covered practical steps for a balanced diet, regular physical activity, and stress management, empowering participants to take an active role in their health.
