Empowering Youth Through Sexual Health Awareness: A Successful Event on HIV Screening and Counseling

Promoting responsible choices and strengthening partnerships for public health.

On February 14, 2024, the University of the Cordilleras’ Youth and Adolescent Sexuality and Reproductive Health (UYAHH) program, in partnership with the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP), organized an impactful event centered on HIV screening and counseling.

This initiative aimed to enhance sexual health awarenesscombat HIV-related stigma, and encourage responsible health-seeking behavior among students. The College of Nursing Student Council (CON-CSC) actively supported the activity by managing an educational booth that highlighted safe sex practices and provided accessible reproductive health information.

Participants were offered free male and female condoms, lubricants, and contraceptive pills, along with educational materials designed to empower them to make informed and healthy decisions. Beyond resource distribution, the event fostered open dialogue and a supportive environment, promoting a culture of understanding and inclusion around sexual health issues.

This collaboration between UYAHHFPOP, and UC-CON CSC underscores the power of partnerships in advancing youth empowerment and public health, demonstrating how inter-organizational cooperation can create lasting community impact.
