Fostering healthy habits and brighter smiles through education and collaboration.
February 23, 2024 | Baguio Central School — In celebration of Oral Health Month, the College of Nursing Student Council (CON-CSC), in collaboration with the University of the Cordilleras Youth and Adolescent Sexuality and Reproductive Health Hub (UYAHH) and the candidates for Mr. & Ms. Nursing 2024, spearheaded a school nursing initiative to promote oral health awareness among young learners.
Guided by the theme “Sparkling Smiles Day: Smile Bright, Brush Right,” the activity featured educational sessions, interactive games, and the distribution of oral hygiene kits, all designed to instill proper oral care habits among children. A total of 478 Grade 1 and Grade 2 pupils from Baguio Central School participated in the event, eagerly engaging in fun yet meaningful activities that emphasized the importance of daily brushing and dental hygiene.
The success of this initiative was made possible through the generous support of Communities Aligning Baguio and San Antonio Texas (CABSAT) and the Philippine Nurses Association Cordillera Chapter (PNACC), who provided essential materials and resources for the participants. The organizers also extend special appreciation to Dr. Judith Odanee G. Magwilang, Dean of the UC College of Nursing, for her steadfast guidance and encouragement, as well as to the faculty and staff members whose dedication to community service continues to inspire future nurse leaders.
This outreach exemplifies UC-CON’s ongoing commitment to holistic health promotion, youth education, and community partnership—fostering both brighter smiles and healthier futures.
