Bringing Health and Educational Support to Sitio Bad-ayan Community

The UC Baguio – University Student Council (USC), in collaboration with the College of Nursing (CON), successfully conducted a community outreach program at Bad-ayan Integrated School in Sitio Bad-ayan, Barangay Baculongan Sur, Buguias, Benguet. The initiative aimed to address the immediate needs identified during a prior community needs assessment conducted on June 15, 2024, focusing on both healthcare access and educational support.
During the outreach, UC-CON nursing students provided free basic health services, including vital signs assessment, blood glucose testing, and blood typing, ensuring that residents received accessible and essential care. In addition, school supplies were distributed to students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, equipping them for the upcoming Academic Year 2024–2025 and supporting their right to quality education.
The program was warmly received by residents and students, who expressed deep appreciation for the health services and educational assistance provided. This collaboration not only met critical community needs but also strengthened partnerships between the University and the local community.
Through initiatives like this, the UC University Student Council and the College of Nursing continue to demonstrate their commitment to community service, poverty reduction, and sustainable development, reflecting UC’s core values of compassion, service, and excellence.
