UC College of Nursing and BGHMC Hold Successful Blood Donation Drive

Saving Lives Through Compassion and Collaboration

October 28, 2024 – University of the Cordilleras, Baguio City. The University of the Cordilleras (UC) College of Nursing, in partnership with the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) Blood Bank, successfully conducted a blood donation drive from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, uniting nursing students, volunteers, and community members in a shared mission to save lives.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, the event collected a total of 56 blood bags, each representing a vital contribution to patients in need of transfusions.


Collective Effort for a Lifesaving Cause

The drive was marked by the active participation of doctors and nurses from BGHMC, who collaborated closely with UC College of Nursing Student Council (CSC) officers and nursing students. Together, they ensured the smooth and safe facilitation of the donation process.

Participants assisted in vital signs monitoringphysical assessmentsdonor interviews, and health screenings, providing donors with care and support throughout the activity. The event also served as a hands-on learning opportunity for nursing students, allowing them to apply their clinical knowledge while fostering empathy and social responsibility.


Commitment to Service and Community Health

This initiative highlighted UC-CON’s enduring commitment to community service and healthcare advocacy, promoting awareness of the importance of voluntary blood donation and its role in saving lives.

The success of the blood donation drive was made possible through the collective efforts of UC faculty, students, and healthcare professionals, whose compassion and collaboration exemplify the college’s mission of producing competent, compassionate, and community-centered nurses.

The UC College of Nursing extends its heartfelt gratitude to the BGHMC Blood Bank and all volunteers who contributed to this meaningful cause. Together, they demonstrated how unity and service can make a life-saving difference.
