On November 14, 2024, at 2 PM, the University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing (UC-CON) joined the Fourth Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED). This initiative, spearheaded by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), aims to enhance public awareness and preparedness for earthquakes, ensuring communities know how to respond effectively during seismic events.
The NSED is a nationwide exercise that educates participants on essential earthquake safety measures. During the drill, UC-CON students, faculty, and staff practiced the “duck, cover, and hold” technique, a fundamental action designed to reduce injury during an earthquake. The activity emphasized the importance of swift, coordinated responses and reinforced disaster preparedness protocols within the campus.
Through its participation, UC-CON reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a culture of safety and resilience. The drill served as an opportunity for the UC community to enhance their readiness, ensuring they are equipped to protect themselves and assist others in the event of an earthquake.
