Excellence in Nursing Research: UC Students Among Best Podium Presenters

Recognizing Student Innovation and Scholarly Achievement in Nursing Research

Iloilo City, Philippines – November 28–29, 2024. Two Level IV Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students from the University of the Cordilleras (UC)Rachel L. Daulayan and Maria Angeliche S. Garcia—were recognized as among the Best Podium Presenters at the 14th National Nursing Research Conference held at the University of San Agustin Iloilo Main Campus.

Their study, titled “A Qualitative Exploration: Experiences of Mothers Who Decided to Return to Schooling,” explored the challenges and triumphs of mothers pursuing academic goals while managing family responsibilities. The research was conducted under the mentorship of Ervina Luisa D. Campus, their adviser, and originally developed as a course requirement in Nursing Research RLE.

While Daulayan and Garcia represented their group during the conference, the research was a collective effort with Rasha A. Almaqel, Lorena P. Chavez, Dianne Angelica P. Diso, Polly Sharon C. Fulangen, Jomel B. Dumlao, Rogeliz Bernadette I. Ramos, Jenifer C. Remiendo, Nassif L. Saber, and Yani Bel F. Sanidad. They were accompanied and supported by Mr. Gilbert D. Bernardino Jr., UC-CON’s Level I and Research Coordinator.

The conference, organized by the Global Society for Philippine Nurse Researchers, Inc. (GSPNRI), carried the theme “Data, Tools, and Techniques: Enhancing Methodological Rigor in the Digital Age.” It served as a platform for nurses and nursing students nationwide to showcase innovative studies that contribute to the advancement of nursing science and evidence-based practice.

This recognition highlights the students’ dedication, scholarly rigor, and commitment to excellence in nursing research—reflecting UC-CON’s mission to nurture critical thinkers, innovators, and research-driven healthcare professionals.
