Highlighting Collaborations Across 5 Communities, 8 National Organizations, 11 Hospital Affiliates, and 4 International Institutions
The University of the Cordilleras – College of Nursing (UC-CON) sustained its commitment to excellence and service in 2024 by strengthening community linkages, national alliances, and international collaborations. With 30 institutional partners across different levels—5 community affiliates, 11 hospital affiliates, 8 national partners, 2 regional partners, and 4 international academic partners—UC-CON implemented over 40 engagement activities that advanced nursing education, expanded professional networks, and supported the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Local Engagements and Community Impact
UC-CON worked closely with five partner municipalities and the City of Baguio, collaborating with local health offices and barangays in Kapangan, Kibungan, Buguias, La Trinidad, and Baguio City. Across 18 community-based engagements, more than 600 nursing students and faculty participated in health assessments, home visits, community mobilization activities, reproductive health education, and disease prevention programs.
These engagements enabled UC-CON to address localized health needs while strengthening students’ competencies in primary care, health promotion, and community development. Through partnerships with 11 hospital affiliates, UC-CON also ensured robust clinical training opportunities for students, contributing directly to SDG 3 and SDG 4 by enhancing hands-on learning and service delivery.
National Engagements and Professional Influence
UC-CON upheld active participation in national-level initiatives through its partnerships with eight major professional and academic organizations, including the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA), Philippine Association of Schools of Medical Technology and Public Health (PASMETH), Association of Deans of Philippine Colleges of Nursing (ADPCN), Population Commission–CAR, Philippine Nursing Research Society (PNRS), and others.
In 2024, the College joined 12 national engagements, attended by more than 150 students and faculty, including:
- Representation at the 22nd Battle of the Nightingales – NCR Cluster,
- A highly successful Blood Donation Drive in collaboration with Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center Blood Bank, collecting 56 blood bags,
- The reproductive health seminar “Empowerment Through Options: A Guide to Contraceptives,” attended by nearly 180 participants, and
- Participation in national health advocacy, research dissemination, and academic leadership events.
These engagements strengthened UC-CON’s role in shaping nursing education and public health movements across the Philippines, supporting both SDG 3 (Health) and SDG 17 (Partnerships).
International Collaborations and Global Academic Linkages
UC-CON expanded its international footprint through active engagement with four international institutional partners—University of Texas Health Science Center (USA), Taipei Medical University (Taiwan), Universitas Katolik Indonesia, and Institut Kesehatan Immanuel (Indonesia).
In 2024, the College participated in 10 international engagements, involving more than 70 faculty and student representatives through:
- Inter-university cooperation dialogues (e.g., Project SHIP with UNC–Charlotte),
- Participation in the 22nd Asia Workforce Forum in Malaysia,
- International research and academic exchanges through the NEPRA Guild involving partners from Saudi Arabia, the USA, and Canada,
- Student and faculty participation in global health discussions, summer programs, and collaborative research.
These efforts strengthened UC-CON’s global visibility and helped cultivate graduates prepared for international practice and leadership.
Overall Impact
Across all levels, UC-CON recorded:
- 40+ total engagements,
- 820+ total participants (students, faculty, partners),
- 30 official partner institutions, and
- Significant contributions to community health, professional development, research dissemination, and global academic integration.
These initiatives reflect UC-CON’s unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and service—advancing nursing education and expanding its reach from the Cordilleras to the global stage.
