(SDG 3.3.4 – Sexual and Reproductive Health Care Services for Students)
The University of the Cordilleras – College of Nursing (UC-CON) strengthened its commitment to student health and well-being in 2024 through initiatives that provided students with free access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information, education, and services. These efforts align with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, specifically Indicator 3.3.4, which highlights the importance of ensuring student access to SRH care and education within academic institutions.
Two key activities demonstrated UC-CON’s active provision of SRH support for students during the year. On October 15, 2024, the College, through the UC Youth and Adolescent Sexuality and Reproductive Health Hub (UYAHH), hosted the seminar “Empowerment Through Options: A Guide to Contraceptives” at the UC Auditorium in collaboration with the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP), Balay Marvi by LoveYourself, and the UC College of Nursing Student Council. This educational event provided students with free access to sexual and reproductive health information, including contraceptive options, family planning, HIV/STI prevention, and safe sexual health practices. Free condoms were likewise distributed after the activity to promote responsible and informed reproductive health decision-making among students.

Additionally, UC-CON participated in the FPOP 55th Anniversary Medical Mission on August 16, 2024 at Malcolm Square, Baguio City. Students were given access to sexual and reproductive health services and counseling during the mission, further strengthening their awareness of available SRH resources and their importance in supporting personal well-being. This initiative enabled students to receive SRH guidance from trained health professionals in a safe, supportive, and youth-friendly environment.

These two initiatives highlight UC-CON’s commitment to providing SRH education and services that support informed decision-making, responsible sexual behavior, and improved reproductive well-being among its student population. By offering these programs free of charge, the College ensures that access to essential SRH services remains inclusive and equitable for all students.
