Lomon, Paykek, Kapangan – On March 7, 2025, the Municipality of Kapangan commemorated its 80th Liberation Day, marking the town’s significant role in World War II history. The event honored the bravery and sacrifices of the 66th Infantry Regiment of the United States Armed Forces in the Philippines, North Luzon (USAFIP-NL), who were instrumental in the liberation of Benguet from Japanese occupation.
Among the participants in this momentous occasion were the Level 4 nursing students from the University of the Cordilleras – College of Nursing (UC-CON), under the supervision of their clinical instructor, Mrs. Jessica Bentayen. The students enthusiastically joined the parade, marching alongside local officials, war veterans, and community members in a show of unity and patriotism. Their presence underscored their commitment not only to healthcare but also to community engagement and cultural awareness.

Beyond their participation in the parade, the UC-CON students provided essential healthcare services to the event attendees. They set up health stations, where they conducted blood pressure monitoring, first aid services, and health education, ensuring that the community had access to medical support throughout the celebration. Their contribution was well-received, as they demonstrated their dedication to service and the well-being of the people.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the students also joined in the fun-filled activities and traditional dances, immersing themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Kapangan.
