UC College of Nursing Holds Faculty Meeting and Development Program

The University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing (UC CON) successfully conducted its Faculty Meeting and Faculty Development Program (FDP) on March 22, 2025, at the Nursing Laboratory (NLAB). The event brought together faculty members to discuss key updates, strategic plans, and professional development initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of nursing education at UC CON.

The meeting commenced with an invocation led by Ma’am Nora Mongolnon, setting a solemn and reflective tone for the day’s proceedings. This was followed by the reading of the previous minutes of the meeting by Ma’am Joan Bautista, ensuring continuity and accountability in faculty deliberations.

Dean Judith Odanee G. Magwilang provided essential reminders and announcements, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and faculty development. Additional insights and updates were shared by Program Chair and Quality Assurance Officer, Mrs. Judith A. Layao.

Further discussions were led by the Level Coordinators, who provided crucial updates on their respective year levels:

  • Level 1 – Mr. Gilbert Bernardino (also the Research Coordinator)
  • Level 2 – Mrs. Nasper Anod
  • Level 3 – Mrs. Josephine Minger
  • Level 4 – Dr. Sheila Maria Batoon

Following the faculty meeting, the Faculty Development Program (FDP) commenced, focusing on continuous learning and skill enhancement. The team handling NCM 116 led the initial session, followed by the NCM 120A team in the afternoon. These sessions provided faculty members with insights into best practices and innovations in nursing education.

A highlight of the FDP was the training session on AI Tools in Education, which explored the integration of artificial intelligence in teaching methodologies. This session was discussed by Mr. Ibrahim Hanbal and facilitated by Mr. Don Harl Malabanan, Miss Joan Guinto, and Miss Shayne Klarisse Dinamling. Faculty members actively engaged in discussions, recognizing the potential of AI to enhance instructional strategies and student engagement.

The event concluded with a reaffirmation of UC CON’s commitment to faculty growth and academic excellence. Through these initiatives, the College of Nursing continues to equip its educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to advance nursing education and healthcare practice.
