UC CON Faculty Members Win Big at the 28th BCFCC General Assembly

Baguio City, March 30, 2025 — Faculty members from the University of the Cordilleras – College of Nursing (UC CON) brought home major prizes during the 28th Annual Regular General Assembly Meeting of the Baguio Colleges Foundation Credit Cooperative (BCFCC), held at the UC Theater. Themed “Growing Together: Cultivating our Collective Future,” the event gathered members to celebrate unity, transparency, and the spirit of cooperation.

Credit cooperatives such as BCFCC play a significant role in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by fostering financial inclusion, supporting equitable economic opportunities, and strengthening community resilience. Through member-driven savings, lending services, and shared ownership, credit cooperatives help reduce inequalities, promote sustainable livelihoods, and empower individuals to contribute actively to the development of their communities.

During the raffle draw, several UC CON faculty members emerged as winners. Romeo Fernandez, Dr. Brenda Cirillo, Ferdinand Tercero, and Malon Crisanto Pulas each received prizes, while Nasper Anod was one of the early birds and received recognition for arriving early at the venue. Josephine G. Minger claimed second prize and won a brand-new washing machine. The first prize—a smart TV—was drawn by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Ray Dean D. Salvosa, and was awarded to Assistant Professor Gilbert D. Bernardino Jr., much to the delight of the audience.

The program also featured a detailed presentation of the cooperative’s financial status, reinforcing BCFCC’s commitment to transparency and sound fiscal management. This was followed by the election of officers, ensuring the continued strength and stability of the organization’s leadership. The gathering was not only a celebration of rewards but also a reaffirmation of the cooperative’s role in cultivating a future rooted in collective growth and shared purpose.
