The third day of the University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing’s (UC-CON) Communidad 2025 continued to inspire and inform students and faculty alike during the morning session held at the UC Gymnasium.

The event began with the introduction of the first speaker by Level II Coordinator Mrs. Nasper T. Anod, who warmly welcomed Police Major Atty. Ford G. Tuazon from the Provincial Legal Office, Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet. Police Major Atty. Tuazon delivered an impactful lecture on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), emphasizing the legal frameworks protecting victims and the critical role of healthcare professionals in recognizing and addressing cases of abuse. His lecture shed light on the complex dynamics of violence and the importance of multidisciplinary approaches in supporting survivors.

An engaging intermission number followed, featuring special performances by Mrs. Agnes Baniwas and Mr. Heston Sial, showcasing the vibrant talents of UC-CON’s faculty and adding a lively break to the academic atmosphere.

Following this, Ms. Lily Christy Baludda, Chair of the Faculty Development Program, introduced the second speaker, Mr. Clark Dizon, a Nurse V from the Department of Health – Cordillera Administrative Region (DOH-CAR). Mr. Dizon presented a comprehensive discussion on Emerging and Reemerging Diseases, focusing particularly on the current updates regarding MPOX (Monkeypox). His lecture highlighted disease prevention strategies, early detection, and the role of the healthcare system in responding to new public health threats.

The morning session reflected UC-CON’s commitment to equipping future nurses with the knowledge and awareness necessary to address both social issues and public health challenges. It also fostered a deeper sense of responsibility among the students to become advocates of health, protection, and well-being within their communities.

As Communidad 2025 continues, UC-CON remains steadfast in empowering its students through education, collaboration, and community engagement.
