June 4–5, 2025 | University of the Cordilleras Theater & Nursing Laboratory (NLAB), Baguio City
The University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing (UC CON), in partnership with the Mother and Child Nurses Association of the Philippines (MCNAP) – Baguio-Benguet Chapter, the Nursing Service Office of Saint Louis University Sacred Heart Medical Center, and the School of Nursing, Allied Health, and Biological Sciences (SONAHBS) of Saint Louis University, successfully co-hosted the 2nd Post-Graduate Workshop on Maternal and Child Nursing 2025 on June 4–5, 2025.
The two-day workshop gathered nurses, educators, and healthcare professionals to strengthen core competencies and promote evidence-based maternal and child health practices across clinical and community settings.
Workshop Goals and Learning Outcomes
The workshop aimed to:
- Discuss and demonstrate healthy habits during pregnancy to prevent complications.
- Promote a safe birth experience in both hospital and community settings.
- Master and apply evidence-based practices in breastfeeding support.
- Update clinical practice guidelines on childhood immunizations.
- Recognize and apply the importance of child nutrition.
Day 1: Morning Lectures, Afternoon Workshops
Held at the UC Theater and Nursing Laboratory (NLAB), Day 1 began with opening preliminaries and welcome remarks from Dr. Jude L. Tayaben, PhD, RN, President of MCNAP Baguio-Benguet Chapter. The morning lectures featured:
- Dr. Cherylina G. Dalilis, RN (SLU-SONAHBS) on Prenatal Care: Healthy Habits During Pregnancy
- Dr. Cheryll M. Banda-ay, RN (SLU-SONAHBS) on Intrapartum Care: Promoting Safe Birth Experiences
- Ms. April L. Ofo-ob, RN (SLU Sacred Heart Medical Center) on Evidence-Based Breastfeeding Practices
In the afternoon, participants moved to the UC NLAB for focused workshops facilitated by faculty from UC and SLU, allowing participants to apply knowledge through hands-on simulations and group discussions.








Day 2: In-Depth, Back-to-Back Lectures
The second day featured a full morning of back-to-back lectures led by speakers from the Baguio City Health Services Office:
- Dr. Sonia W. Insas, RN, Nurse V – Clinical Practice Guidelines on Childhood Vaccinations
- Mr. Andrew Nathaniel S. Ferrer, RN, Nurse II – Child Nutrition and Health Promotion
The event concluded with an interactive session moderated by MCNAP BBC and a brief closing program, reflecting the collaborative spirit and commitment of the organizing institutions.






Strengthening Inter-Institutional Collaboration and Lifelong Learning
