The University of the Cordilleras – College of Nursing (UC CON) took part in the Second Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on June 19, 2025, in support of the government’s efforts to promote disaster preparedness.

The drill, spearheaded by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), is part of a national campaign to raise awareness and enhance readiness in the face of potential earthquakes. Conducted quarterly, these drills serve as a reminder of the importance of preparedness, especially in a country like the Philippines that is prone to seismic activity.

At exactly 9:00 AM, UC CON faculty and students actively participated by practicing the “Duck, Cover, and Hold”technique. The simulation was carried out in classrooms, laboratories, and offices, ensuring that everyone knew what to do in the event of a real earthquake.

Through this activity, UC CON continues to emphasize the significance of disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) in both academic and real-world settings. The college remains committed to equipping future nurses not only with clinical skills but also with the knowledge and readiness to respond to emergencies and protect lives.
This participation reflects UC CON’s broader role in supporting national resilience efforts and fostering a culture of safety within the university and the wider community.
