UC College of Nursing Faculty Joins 2025 Arbor Day Celebration with DENR-CAR and Professional Organizations

In line with its commitment to environmental stewardship and community partnership, the University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing (UC CON) proudly participated in the 2025 Arbor Day Celebration spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Cordillera Administrative Region (DENR-CAR). The event, held on June 25, 2025, gathered professionals from various organizations in a collaborative effort to promote environmental sustainability through Tree Planting and Care Management.

The activity took place in Shilan, La Trinidad, Benguet, with participants assembling at the DENR-CAR Office at 7:20 AM before proceeding to the designated planting site. Although located some distance from the main road, the site provided an ideal setting for meaningful ecological engagement.

Each participant was encouraged to plant or care for at least ten trees, qualifying them to receive three (3) CPD credit units in recognition of their environmental contribution. Seedlings were provided on-site, and participants were expected to bring their own eco-bags, gloves, planting tools, food, water, and organizational banners for documentation purposes. Transportation was on a self-arranged or carpool basis to promote resource-sharing and minimize carbon footprint.

The UC College of Nursing was among the organizations allotted participant slots alongside the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA), Philippine Association for Teachers of Educational Foundations (PAFTE), Integrated Midwives Association of the Philippines (IMAP), Knights of Columbus Philippines (KCP), Saint Louis University (SLU), Bureau of Fire Protection – CFS (BFP-CFS), Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE), and the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME), among others.

The event not only served as an opportunity to contribute to environmental conservation but also fostered inter-professional collaboration and community solidarity. The UC CON faculty reaffirmed their advocacy for health in all aspects—recognizing that caring for the environment is intrinsically linked to promoting the health and well-being of the population.

This Arbor Day initiative stands as a testament to the enduring partnership between the academe, government, and professional sectors in shaping a greener and healthier future.
