Celebrating a new generation of nurse leaders dedicated to healing and humanity.
The University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing (UC-CON) proudly celebrated the culmination of years of perseverance, learning, and compassion during the 79th Commencement Exercises held on October 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the UC Theatre. The solemn event honored the unwavering dedication of nursing graduates who are now ready to serve humanity with competence, empathy, and integrity.
The ceremony began with the Entry of the Colors of the Republic of the Philippines and the University, followed by the Presentation of Graduates led by Dr. Judith Odanee G. Magwilang, Dean of the College of Nursing, and Dr. Ramir S. Austria, Dean of the College of Teacher Education. Their presentation symbolized not only the completion of academic requirements but also the transformation of students into professionals guided by UC’s core values of integrity, service, and excellence.
The Confirmation of Graduates by Dr. Ariel Nimo B. Pumecha and the Conferment of Degrees by Dr. Nancy M. Flores officially recognized the graduates’ academic accomplishments—each handshake representing years of determination, resilience, and the aspiration to create meaningful change in healthcare.
In his heartfelt Commencement Address, Atty. Paolo Raynor Salvosa, Member of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Baguio City, reminded the graduates that nursing is both a science and a calling. He urged them to serve others with compassion and courage, emphasizing that every act of care—no matter how small—contributes to the greater good of society.
During the Awarding of Diplomas, graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing were honored alongside other programs, including the Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Physical Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education, and the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP).
Academic Distinction
The College of Nursing proudly recognized three exemplary graduates who earned the distinction of cum laude, representing academic excellence and compassionate leadership:
- Nicholai Altez Escalona – City of Candon, Ilocos Sur
- Kristen Mae Roldan Cadaoas – Skokie, Illinois
- Zwiesel Gie Baguilat Gawi – Kiangan, Ifugao
These outstanding graduates embody the ideals of professionalism, lifelong learning, and service to others—hallmarks of the UC Nurse.
The ceremony concluded with the Presentation and Awarding of Academic Honors and Citations, the Pledge of Loyalty to Alma Mater, the University Hymn, and the Exit of the Colors, followed by the Recessional, symbolizing the graduates’ march toward new beginnings.
As the UC-CON graduates stepped forward with pride and purpose, they carried with them the mission of the university: to heal, to serve, and to lead with compassion—true embodiments of excellence and humanity in nursing.
