UC BSMLS Joins PAMET BBMP 55th Founding Anniversary and 19th Chapter Conference

Advancing One Health Through Collaboration and Professional Excellence

The University of the Cordilleras Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (UC BS-MLS) participated in the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. (PAMET) Baguio-Benguet-Mt. Province Chapter 55th Founding Anniversary and 19th Chapter Conference with the theme “55 Years Strong: Honoring Our Legacy and Advancing One Health in an Evolving MedTech Landscape.”

Representing UC BS-MLS were Dr. Jowelyn B. Raja, Program Chair, and Denzel L. Alalag, Laboratory and Internship Coordinator. The event gathered medical technologists, educators, policy experts, and healthcare leaders to highlight PAMET’s long-standing contributions and the evolving role of medical technologists in the country’s healthcare system.

Strengthening One Health in an Evolving MedTech Landscape

The conference featured exhibitions, plenary sessions, and expert discussions on emerging zoonotic diseases, culturally sensitive healthcare, laboratory preparedness for disasters and outbreaks, supply chain resilience, and technological advancements in diagnostics, including artificial intelligence and spectroscopy.

Topics also addressed occupational health, workforce mental well-being, and cross-sector career opportunities, emphasizing the vital role of medical technologists in the One Health framework focused on human, animal, and environmental health.

Recognizing Service and Dedication

During the “Gabi ng Parangal at Pasasalamat,” UC BS-MLS faculty member Denzel L. Alalag received the prestigious IYAMAN Award, recognizing his significant contributions and continued support to the chapter’s initiatives and advocacies.
