Preparedness in School, Community, and Hospital Settings at Its Finest
Faculty members and students from the University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (UC CONAHS) actively participated in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on November 6, 2025, in compliance with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) directives for disaster preparedness.
The drill aimed to strengthen disaster awareness, response readiness, and community resilience through the “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” practice, coupled with coordinated evacuation procedures and communication drills across the country. UC CONAHS faculty and students demonstrated full compliance and participation in all assigned areas—on campus, in the community, and at hospital duty stations.




Within the school grounds, faculty and students executed evacuation protocols efficiently, moving toward designated open spaces and safety zones. During community immersion duties, nursing students collaborated with barangay officials and local responders to assist residents and model proper emergency response behavior. Meanwhile, those on hospital rotations joined institution-led emergency response activities, contributing to triage simulations, patient safety protocols, and disaster coordination exercises alongside hospital staff.
Through their collective effort, UC CONAHS reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a culture of safety, preparedness, and public service. The college continues to integrate disaster risk reduction education into nursing practice and community engagement, ensuring that future health professionals are ready to respond effectively in times of crisis.
