UC-CONAHS student researchers shine at an international gathering of nurse scholars and innovators
Students from the University of the Cordilleras–College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (UC-CONAHS) earned major distinctions at the Global Conference on Health Innovations and Evidence Implementation, organized by the Global Society for Philippine Nurse Researchers, Inc. The conference was held on December 3–4, 2025, at Novotel Manila Araneta City, bringing together nursing leaders, scholars, and students from local and international institutions.
Athena Jae Oribello won 1st place in the student poster competition for her quantitative research, “May Hepa sa Basura?: Quantitative Study on the Prevalence of Hepatitis B among Garbage Collectors in Baguio City.” The study was advised by Phoebe Toyokan and Perciveranda Millare. Rajen Insigne also presented his phenomenological work, “Listening Beyond Words: A Phenomenological Study on Parenting a Child with Autism,” under the mentorship of Gilbert D. Bernardino Jr.


In the oral presentation category, Danica Jane Bumaltao delivered her qualitative study, “Lived Experiences of Breast Cancer Patients in Baguio City,” advised by Christian Basatan, securing 2nd place in her parallel session. Another student representative, Carawell Cuyahon, presented her research on “Compliance of Lying-in Clinics and Birthing Centers in Baguio City with the Department of Health Standards,” advised by Ferdinand Tercero.
The UC student presenters were accompanied by faculty mentor Gilbert D. Bernardino Jr., who provided guidance throughout the conference. This year’s event highlighted the evolving roles of nurses amid rapid technological transformations in healthcare systems, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based practice and innovation in addressing emerging health challenges.




UC-CONAHS continues to strengthen its visibility in national and global research arenas, celebrating the remarkable achievements of its student researchers who embody excellence, leadership, and a strong commitment to advancing nursing scholarship.
