UC-CONAHS Faculty Strengthen Leadership Practice through LEAF Training

Leadership formation and professional development of nursing and allied health faculty

UC-CONAHS faculty members took part in the Leadership Foundations Course (LEAF), a two-day intensive leadership formation program conducted on December 11–12, 2025 at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center – Cancer Center. Anchored on the theme “Cultivate the roots of leadership with adaptability and teamwork,” the course was designed to enhance leadership competencies essential for academic governance, healthcare collaboration, and professional service.

The program emphasized core leadership domains, including adaptive leadership, collaborative decision-making, ethical responsibility, and reflective practice. Through structured discussions, experiential learning activities, and guided reflections, participants examined leadership challenges commonly encountered in educational and clinical settings and explored strategies for responding effectively to change and complexity.

Representing the College were Ms. Sonia Olnanigon, Level 1 and Review Program Coordinator; Ms. Nasper Anod, Level 2 Coordinator; and Mr. Ferdinand Tercero, Sustainability and LMS Coordinator. Their participation underscored UC-CONAHS’ sustained investment in faculty leadership development as a critical component of quality instruction, program management, and institutional sustainability.

Insights gained from the LEAF training are expected to strengthen faculty roles in curriculum implementation, student mentoring, interprofessional collaboration, and organizational leadership. By reinforcing adaptability and teamwork, the program supports the College’s efforts to cultivate leaders who are responsive to evolving healthcare and educational demands.

Through continued engagement in leadership formation initiatives, UC-CONAHS reaffirms its commitment to values-driven leadership, collaborative practice, and excellence in nursing and allied health education, aligned with the University’s mission of service, innovation, and community engagement.
