UC-CONAHS Conducts Level II Nursing Skills Enhancement Program on Medication Safety and Infection Control

Strengthening Safe Nursing Practice Through Focused Training on Medication Administration and Infection Prevention

January 24, 2026

The University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (UC-CONAHS) successfully conducted the Level II Nursing Skills Enhancement Program on January 24, 2026, at the UC Nursing Laboratory (N2004). The activity aimed to strengthen students’ clinical competence in medication administration and infection control, which are essential to ensuring safe and high-quality nursing care.

The program featured Ms. Maria Cristina T. Larkins as the resource speaker, who delivered a comprehensive discussion on Medication Safety and Infection Control. Her lecture highlighted the rights of medication administration, strategies to prevent medication errors, and the importance of strict compliance with standard precautions to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections. Through practical examples and guided discussion, students were able to link classroom concepts with real-life clinical responsibilities.

An interactive question-and-answer segment allowed participants to clarify key points and reinforce their understanding of patient safety principles. The activity concluded with the awarding of a Certificate of Appreciation to Ms. Larkins in recognition of her valuable contribution to the professional development of future nurses.

The program was organized with the support of the Level II Clinical Instructors and coordinated by Mr. Nasper P. Anod, with Ms. Marie Agnes Baniwas serving as emcee. This initiative reflects UC-CONAHS’ sustained commitment to producing competent, safety-oriented, and patient-centered nurses through structured skills enhancement activities.
