BSN 3 Student Researchers Visit DOH-CAR for Research Preparation and Orientation

Student researchers from the University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences BSN Level 3 visited the Department of Health Cordillera Administrative Region Regional Training Center on February 6, 2026, as part of their preparation for their undergraduate research. The group coordinated directly with DOH-CAR to verify their data gathering tool and to further clarify their chosen research topic. During their visit, they were given the opportunity to attend the HIV 101, Community-Based Screening, and RA 11166 Orientation.

The session was facilitated by Sir Darwin Francisco Babon, Regional Program Manager of the National AIDS and STI Prevention Control Program CAR, together with Ma’am Christine Lyzandra O. Andrade, RMT, MLS(ASCPi)CM, and Sir Mark Gonzalo D. Benter, Health Program Officer II. The orientation provided the students with deeper understanding of HIV prevention, confidentiality, ethical data handling, and stigma free care in accordance with the Philippine HIV and AIDS Policy Act of 2018. The experience guided them in refining their research direction while strengthening their awareness of ethical responsibilities in conducting community based research. The activity reflects UC CONAHS commitment to developing research oriented nurses whose studies respond to real community health concerns.
