Baguio City – June 20, 2025 — Faculty members from the University of the Cordilleras – College of Nursing (UC CON) participated in an insightful dialogue on international nursing careers with esteemed healthcare professionals from Singapore. The event was held at the Nursing Laboratory (NLAB) of UC from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

The session featured three distinguished speakers: Mr. Nicholas Ong from Moonlight Home for the Aged and Handicapped LLP, Dr. Subadhra Rai from the School of Humanities & Behavioural Sciences at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, and Ms. Christina Loh, academic head of Age Well Academy Pte Ltd.

The speakers discussed emerging career opportunities for new graduate Filipino nurses in Singapore’s evolving healthcare landscape. They emphasized the country’s rapidly aging population and the increasing number of centenarians, which has led to a rising demand for skilled nursing professionals.
Various work settings were introduced, including centre-based, residential, and home-based care. In addition, the speakers provided a comprehensive overview of Singapore’s healthcare system, including its elder care policies and community-based support strategies.

During the open forum, UC CON faculty members asked about the employment requirements for Filipino nurses in Singapore, including qualifications, licensing processes, and language proficiency expectations.

The event fostered greater awareness of global healthcare needs and strengthened the commitment of UC CON to prepare nursing graduates for both local and international practice.
