UC College of Nursing Holds 20th Capping, Pinning, and Candle Lighting Ceremonies

Honoring the Commitment and Calling of Future Nurses

📅 July 27, 2024
📍 UC Gymnasium, University of the Cordilleras, Baguio City

A total of 980 student nurses from the University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing (UC-CON) took part in the 20th Capping, Pinning, and Candle Lighting Ceremonies, marking a significant milestone in their journey toward professional nursing practice. The event symbolized the students’ formal preparation for their forthcoming hospital and community responsibilities.

During the ceremony, student nurses received their caps, representing professionalism, integrity, and service in the nursing profession. The lighting of candles embodied their pursuit of knowledge and compassion, while the lampssignified the guidance, hope, and comfort they are called to bring to those in their care. The pins they received symbolized their achievements and affirmed their identity as future nurses.

This milestone marks the beginning of the students’ clinical practice and community immersion for the first semester of SY 2024–2025, where they will apply their classroom learning in real-world healthcare settings, embodying the values of service, empathy, and excellence that define the UC nurse.
