On October 15, 2024, the University of the Cordilleras auditorium was the venue for “Empowerment Through Options: A Guide to Contraceptives,” a seminar organized by the UC Youth and Adolescents Sexuality and Reproductive Health Hub (UYAHH) in partnership with FPOP Baguio-Benguet, Balay Marvi by LoveYourself, and the UC College of Nursing Student Council. Aimed at educating youth on contraceptive choices and reproductive health, the seminar underscored the importance of gender equality and empowering women and girls. Ms. Christine Lyzandra Andrade, RMT, from Balay Marvi, highlighted contraception’s role in preventing HIV and STIs, while Mr. Arjay Bentic Empizo from FPOP addressed myths about contraception, equipping attendees with factual, accessible information. The event concluded with Balay Marvi distributing free condoms, reinforcing safe practices and UYAHH’s dedication to accessible reproductive health services for the youth.
