On October 15, 2024, the University of the Cordilleras auditorium became a platform for advocacy and education as the UC Youth and Adolescents Sexuality and Reproductive Health Hub (UYAHH), in partnership with FPOP Baguio-Benguet, Balay Marvi by LoveYourself, and the UC College of Nursing Student Council, hosted “Empowerment Through Options: A Guide to Contraceptives.”
This seminar aimed to inform and empower young people about contraceptive choices and reproductive health, underscoring the critical role of gender equality in empowering women and girls. Ms. Christine Lyzandra Andrade, RMT, from Balay Marvi, highlighted how contraception helps prevent HIV and STIs, while Mr. Arjay Bentic Empizo of FPOP tackled common myths about contraception, providing attendees with clear, fact-based information.
The event concluded with the distribution of free condoms by Balay Marvi, reinforcing UYAHH’s dedication to accessible and safe reproductive health options for youth. Through this initiative, UC continues to support informed choices and health equity for the next generation.
