The University of the Cordilleras Department of Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) successfully celebrated Medtech Week 2025 from September 15 to 20, showcasing the dedication, talent, and camaraderie of its students and faculty. The week-long celebration featured a series of academic, creative, and fellowship activities that highlighted both the professional and community spirit of future medical laboratory professionals.
Day 1 – September 15, 2025: “UC Cares, UC Shares”
The week kicked off with the “UC Cares, UC Shares” blood donation initiative, organized by the Department of Medical Laboratory Science in partnership with Baguio General Hospital – Medical Center (BGH-MC) and the College of Nursing. The blood donation drive was conducted at the Nursing Laboratory (NLAB), promoting community service and health awareness among students.
On the same day, an on-the-spot poster making competition was held, encouraging students to creatively express their ideas on health and medical laboratory science, fostering innovation and artistic talent.
Day 2 – September 19, 2025: Medtech Fun Day
The second day, themed Medtech Fun Day, emphasized teamwork, knowledge, and friendly competition through a quiz bee, spelling bee, and various team-building activities. The activities were conducted at the UC Theater, allowing students to engage fully in collaborative and enjoyable learning experiences.
Day 3 – September 20, 2025: Inaugural MLS Fellowship
The celebration concluded with the Inaugural MLS Fellowship, marked by inspiring opening remarks from Dean Judith Odanee G. Magwilang and a guest lecture by Ms. Zarlyn Banaña, who shared insights on professional development in medical laboratory science. The fellowship also featured the introduction of the MLS faculty and the Student Council, strengthening mentorship and a sense of community among students and staff.
