On December 16, 2023, the University of the Cordilleras Youth and Adolescent Sexuality and Reproductive Health Hub (UYAHH) hosted a meaningful seminar in Tawang, La Trinidad, Benguet, in line with World AIDS Day. Under the theme “EmpowerED: Let Communities Lead in HIV Awareness,” the event brought together community members, health advocates, and students to focus on HIV prevention, care, and support. Youth advocates shared insights on HIV transmission, testing, and treatment, while interactive activities encouraged open conversations and helped dispel common misconceptions about the virus. Attendees also received educational materials to further their understanding of HIV and its impact on public health.
This seminar underscores UYAHH’s commitment to empowering communities to play an active role in promoting HIV awareness and reducing stigma. By fostering an environment where people feel supported and informed, UYAHH and the University of the Cordilleras are dedicated to ensuring that essential information and resources reach the community. As we honor World AIDS Day, we are reminded that awareness and education are crucial in combating HIV and building healthier, more inclusive communities.
