UC-CON Advances Global Nursing Engagement Through Strategic International Collaborations in 2024

Strengthening global linkages and academic excellence through international partnerships

The University of the Cordilleras – College of Nursing (UC-CON) demonstrated its growing international presence in 2024 by actively engaging in global academic collaborations, professional exchanges, and international forums. These initiatives reinforced UC-CON’s commitment to global citizenship, knowledge-sharing, and elevating nursing education through cross-border partnerships.

On July 30, 2024, UC-CON highlighted its international collaborative efforts through its engagement with Taipei Medical University (TMU) in Taiwan. As featured on the UC-CON website, this initiative strengthened relationships with a globally recognized institution known for academic excellence and innovations in healthcare education. The collaboration also aligned UC-CON with international standards and opportunities for shared learning, faculty enrichment, and professional development among Filipino nursing scholars.

In November 2024, UC-CON further expanded its global network through the exploratory partnership with the University of North Carolina–Charlotte (UNC Charlotte) for Project SHIP (School-based HIV Initiatives in the Philippines). Discussions centered on collaborative approaches to intensify HIV awareness and prevention in Philippine schools. The potential partnership reflects UC-CON’s commitment to integrating global perspectives in addressing public health issues affecting Filipino communities.

UC-CON also made its mark in global professional engagement as the UC-CON Dean joined nursing leaders across Asia during the 22nd Asia Workforce Forum held in Malaysia. This international forum served as a platform for nursing leaders to exchange evidence-based practices, human resource development strategies, and workforce advancement responses to emerging global health challenges. UC-CON’s participation demonstrated its active involvement in strengthening the nursing profession beyond national borders.

Further establishing its presence within the international landscape of nursing, UC faculty members continue to participate in the Nursing Education and Practice Research Association (NEPRA) Guild, a recognized international organization with academic and professional linkages in Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Canada. This involvement reflects UC-CON’s contribution to research-driven practice, faculty development, and international nursing education discourse.

Through these engagements, UC-CON reaffirmed its commitment to advancing global excellence in nursing education and practice. Strengthening institutional linkages, participating in international forums, and engaging in collaborative research support UC-CON’s aspiration to produce globally competitive nursing professionals equipped with a broad perspective on international health systems and evidence-based care.
