UC College of Nursing Faculty Leads Successful Community Outreach Health Mission at Barangay North Sanitary Camp

On November 23, 2024, the University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing (UC-CON), in collaboration with Barangay North Sanitary Camp, conducted a highly impactful community outreach health mission at the barangay hall. This initiative, spearheaded by Barangay First Lady Dr. Norenia T. Dao-ayen, brought essential healthcare services to the community and demonstrated the value of collaboration in addressing public health needs.

The medical mission featured various services delivered by the dedicated UC-CON faculty and healthcare professionals, including health assessments, laboratory tests, pharmacy support, and consultations.

Medical Consultations

  • Dr. Marilou Cavinta of the National Commission of Indigenous Peoples – Cordillera (NCIP-CAR) provided specialized medical consultations tailored to the needs of Indigenous populations in the community.
  • Dr. Bong Morales Lagman, an esteemed alumnus of UC-CON from Batch 2008, also joined the mission, offering his expertise to ensure comprehensive care for the residents.

The mission served as a collaborative effort involving Barangay Captain Abraham P. Dao-ayen, Kagawad for Health Joan Dalilis, Barangay Nutrition Scholar Hannielynne Bocad, and other key officials and organizations. Services ranged from health assessments and consultations to free medications and blood typing, benefiting barangay residents.

In his closing remarks, Barangay Captain Dao-ayen expressed profound gratitude to the UC-CON faculty, emphasizing how their expertise and compassion uplifted the community. “This mission not only addressed health needs but also strengthened the bond between the barangay and UC-CON,” he shared.

UC-CON’s commitment to community service, guided by Dean Judith Odanee G. Magwilang, continues to exemplify its dedication to making a meaningful impact beyond the classroom, bringing healthcare and hope to those who need it most.
