Excellence in Nursing Research: UC Students Among Best Podium Presenters

Iloilo City, Philippines—Two Level 4 Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students from the University of the Cordilleras (UC), Rachel L. Daulayan and Maria Angeliche S. Garcia, were recognized as one of the best podium presenters at the recently concluded 14th National Nursing Research Conference. The prestigious event took place on November 28-29, 2024, at the University of San Agustin Iloilo Main Campus.

The students presented their research titled “A Qualitative Exploration: Experiences of Mothers Who Decided to Return to Schooling,” which delves into the challenges and triumphs of mothers balancing academic aspirations with familial responsibilities. Their study was conducted under the expert guidance of their research adviser, Ervina Luisa D. Campus, and initially developed as a requirement during their third year in the Nursing Research RLE course.

While Daulayan and Garcia represented their group at the conference, the research was a collaborative effort with their classmates Rasha A. Almaqel, Lorena P. Chavez, Dianne Angelica P. Diso, Polly Sharon C. Fulangen, Jomel B. Dumlao, Rogeliz Bernadette I. Ramos, Jenifer C. Remiendo, Nassif L. Saber, and Yani Bel F. Sanidad. Daulayan and Garcia were accompanied by the Level 1 and Research Coordinator, Mr. Gilbert D. Bernardino Jr., who provided unwavering support throughout the conference.

The conference, organized by the Global Society for Philippine Nurse Researchers, Inc. (GSPNRI), centered on the theme “Data, Tools, and Techniques: Enhancing Methodological Rigor in the Digital Age.” It featured a diverse array of research showcasing the innovation and expertise of nursing professionals and students nationwide. This recognition highlights the effort and dedication of Daulayan and Garcia, as well as the collaborative support of their research group and mentors. Their participation underscores the value of student contributions to the field of nursing research and education, demonstrating the potential impact of evidence-based studies on professional practice.
