In a continuous effort to promote health education and community involvement, the University of the Cordilleras Baguio – University Student Council (UC Baguio USC), in collaboration with the College of Nursing Student Council (CSC), successfully organized an HIV Awareness Seminar and Blood Donation Drive on February 8, 2025. This initiative aimed to provide students with crucial knowledge on HIV/AIDS, encourage prevention and inspire collective action toward reducing stigma. The event was actively participated in by UC College of Nursing (UC-CON) students, who demonstrated their commitment to advocating for public health.

Educating to End the Stigma
The HIV Awareness Seminar focused on dispelling myths, raising awareness about prevention strategies, and emphasizing the importance of regular testing. Experts from Balay Marvi led insightful discussions on HIV transmission, treatment, and the role of education in breaking societal misconceptions. By addressing stigma and discrimination, the seminar empowered attendees to become advocates for inclusivity and health-conscious decision-making.
Blood Donation: A Selfless Act of Giving
Alongside the awareness seminar, the Dugong UC: Para sa Bayan blood donation drive was a resounding success. A total of 54 individuals donated blood, while 63 participants underwent screening, showcasing their dedication to saving lives. The Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) Blood Bank ensured a safe and smooth donation process, reinforcing the importance of voluntary blood donation in sustaining the healthcare system.

Gratitude and Call to Action
The UC Baguio University Student Council and College of Nursing Student Council extend their heartfelt gratitude to Balay Marvi, BGHMC Blood Bank, and all volunteers who contributed to making this event impactful. To the donors and participants, your generosity and compassion serve as an inspiration to the entire UC community.
Let us continue spreading awareness, fighting discrimination, and advocating for a future where health and equality go hand in hand. Through education and action, we can work towards a society free from stigma and full of support for those affected by HIV/AIDS.
