Faculty Development Program Training and Monthly Faculty Meeting

On February 13, 2025, the College of Nursing faculty members convened at the NLAB Amphitheater for a comprehensive Faculty Development Program (FDP) Training and Monthly Faculty Meeting. The event aimed to enhance teaching effectiveness and foster faculty engagement through skill-building demonstrations and discussions.

Morning Session: Faculty Meeting (8:00 AM – 10:00 AM)

The session commenced with morning attendance at 7:30 AM, followed by an invocation led by Lily Rose FocasanIris Marie Dela Cruz led the singing of the Pambansang Awit, after which Shekaina Badecao presented the reading of the previous minutes of the meeting.

Faculty members involved in the meeting included:

  • Gilbert Bernardino – Level I Coordinator
  • Nasper P. Anod – Level II Coordinator
  • Josephine G. Minger – Level III Coordinator
  • Sheila Maria G. Batcon – Level IV Coordinator
  • Judith A. Layao – Program Chair & Quality Assurance Officer

Julie Padilla facilitated the morning session, ensuring a smooth flow of discussions and coordination among the faculty members.

Faculty Development Program

The Faculty Development Program (FDP) focused on Fundamentals of Nursing, to improve faculty course demonstrations by integrating diverse teaching techniques. This approach aims to enhance student engagement and improve learning outcomes.

Demonstration Topics:

  • Maintaining Aseptic Technique and Personal Hygiene – Led by Nasper Anod and Lily Focasan
  • Therapeutic Massage and Postmortem Care – Conducted by Beth Viduya, Demybhelle Visaya, and Marilou Banusan
  • Body Mechanics and Range of Motion Exercises – Demonstrated by Humbeline Sokkong and Karen Soliba
  • Different Bed Positions and Client Positioning – Presented by Jessica Bentayen

The morning FDP session was facilitated by Judith Layao.

Afternoon Session: Continuation of Faculty Development Program

Fundamentals of Nursing

  • Transferring Clients – Demonstration by Jinalyn Pascua
  • Bed Making – Led by Donna Banga-an and Marilou Banusan
  • Charting (Discussion and Demonstration) – Presented by Judith Layao and Josephine Minger

Maternal and Child Care (NCM 109A)

  • Surgical Scrubbing, Gowning, and Open/Close Gloving – Grace Espino
  • Serving the Gown/Gloves – Grace Espino
  • Wound Care with Drain and Wound Cleaning – Letty Midang
  • Recovery Bed Demonstration – Grace Espino
  • Pap Smear and Acetic Acid Wash – Nasper Anod and Grace Espino
  • Oro/Nasogastric Suctioning: Insertion, Feeding, and Removal – Jennelyn Tobay and Kathleen Navarro
  • Infant Resuscitation – Marian Mendoza

The Faculty Development Program concluded successfully at 4:30 PM, reinforcing essential nursing skills among faculty members. The event provided an excellent opportunity for professional growth and collaboration, ensuring that faculty members are well-equipped to deliver high-quality education to nursing students.
